Woven sometime in the late 1800s, these hand-made reed baskets were originally designed for grain harvest. To ensure they could hold fine kernels and small vegetables, the weave was traditionally coated in a layer of mud. This process created a solid, earthen vessel that, over a century of use, has hardened into a beautiful and deeply textured patina.
Seeing the sculptural potential in these organic forms, Carol reimagined these baskets into unique lighting fixtures. Each is professionally wired with classic, cloth-covered vintage electrical cord, transforming a rugged agrarian tool into a warm, diffused light source. With their grounded history and hand-applied textures, these pendants bring a soulful, architectural presence to any ceiling.
